Grading for Rebutted Rejointed Cedar Shingles
- All grades of rebutted rejointed (R&R) cedar shingles shall have parallel edges at right angles to the butt, with a plus tolerance of 2 mm (1/16") at the butt
- An R&R cedar shingle may be up to 1/2" shorter (due to trimming) than a regular shingle of corresponding grade
- R&R cedar shingles may be up to 1/8" narrower (due to trimming) than a regular shingle of corresponding grade
- Shingles shall be of uniform thickness and measured for thickness at the butt
- Butts and one face shall be reasonably smooth
- A bundle or box shall contain 40 layers of cedar shingles in a 20/20 pack
- The running inches for the 40 layers shall be equal to 720" when green
- Mills-producing products intended to comply with this standard shall use an independent inspection or certification agency to oversee their quality control procedures
- Teal cedar products are inspected by the Quality Auditing Institute and conform to white cedar grading requirements of CSA 118.2 standard using western red cedar
